I tried to do some background research via Wikipedia, but a lot of the info there is incomplete or contradictory.

When you're doing research for any sort of fantasy fiction, especially for an rpg, it's important to remember that what you're doing primarily is looking for inspiration. Developing a big list of names is good as background information and as an idea generator for ongoing games, but I don't recommend sticking to any single resource dogmatically.

This idea holds even more true in Armageddon where no religion and no belief system has all the facts or has all of those few they do have, correct, so inconsistencies and fragmented information are exactly what should exist in the fictional setting, too.
