Yet somehow, there's no copy of Pierre Boulle's novel in the box.

Have you read his novel?

It's...odd. And it has nothing to do with the movies that it inspired in any way shape or form. It has to do with Frenchmen being the highest form of life in the universe...

WARNING: SPOILER ALERT!!!

Life evolves on many planets. Humans evolve into Frenchmen, which is apparently the highest form of life in the universe (yes, the author is French). Even when French-speaking humans on one planet manage to destroy themselves, the apes evolve intelligence...and evolve into French-speaking Apes.

You see, French is the ultimate language and form of life that can be develop, so it follows that the universe is filled with Frenchmen.

The fact that the French language evolved from Latin, Gallic, and Germanic languages was sort of lost on the author. Romans, Germans and Galls didn't evolve on any of the other planets. Just Frenchmen. Who spoke French.

Does it suck? Is it really $hitty Science Fiction?
You decide. ;)
