I think part of the issue started with having no interest in Buffy/Angel universe.
The skills seemed too simplistic.
The focus was geared towards that simplistic list.
In one point, the stat #s didn't seem to comparable either.
They were higher overall, much higher.
Starting at about 4 and going up to 8 and even 10 according to a sheet for a character template.
Just really weirded me out.

Well Attributes / Skills are the same # meanings.
Characters like BUFFY, ANGEL, and other supernatural do have higher #...
The Character Sheets in those might be misleading at a glance...Since what you see are 4+ Years of Advancement of In-Game time. Other sections in the books tell you how to change those sheets to match a certain season...BUFFY herself Poured most of her XP in Physical Attributes, and Combat Skills...Same for ANGEL, though he bought other stuff which slowed his Badassery unlike BUFFY...

The Skills are simple...to Help match TV Series / Action feel of the shows. Though it can be good for other shows too or even movies...
At Times, yeah it can be "too simple", i agree...But Players are not allowed to spend XP whenever...usually only near the Mid-Season Break ( Usually 11 Full Stories ), and either before or After the Season Final ( usually 22 Full Stories ). This keeps the Attribute/Skill creep down alot...

The NEWest XP Costs are found in Army of Darkness and Revised Buffy...Angel still has the older costs...its more expensive to raise attributes/skills now...

I also have extremely limited money.
Unemployed since May 25 2004 and every penny is precious.
I CAN'T just buy something on the off-chance that I might be able to adapt it.
I have dozens of old game to use for that.

That is my #1 issue.
I haven't the money to risk on what seems like a risky venture.
Having chose Classic, books that use Classic are of most importance.
I'm also at least haf certain that I've got a good helping of Snark left over from dealing with the usual gang of retards over at the Mage the Awakening forums at White Wolf and am generally mistrusting on any issue involving adapting a book that utilizes a different version of the system.

I know about the money issue...same here. Odd jobs to cover bills...
I'd Buy the Cinematic Books at some point if i was you...You are missing some good stuff...

I Own Armageddon, Terra Primate, Mystery/Abomination Codex, Buffy, Angel, Army of Darkness, Magic Box, Monster Smackdown, Slayer's handbook...

OHH...
The BEST Things i have found in Cinimatic Unisystem has been :
QUICK SHEET NPCS : As Director I never need to roll for my NPC villians... BIG BADS Bosses, still have a FULL Sheet...
Demon Creation Rules thats useful for anything really
Organization Creation Rules
Mass Combat Rules
Quick and Easy Unisystem Magic System...I love it for NPCs and Plot uses...much better than WC's magics...

You were Claiming to HATE cinematic unisystem without actually reading in depth...Which is what people was getting at...

Out of the cinematics though, IF you do buy one, Get ANGEL first...Its the most useful. It lacks the Cin-Magic/Mass combat stuff...but it has the rest...
If you then feel it to give the other a Try, then pick up MAGIC BOX you can skip Buffy Core really...Then Army of Darkness for the Newest EXP Costs and Mass Combat, Deadites, Chosen Ones (ASH)...
