IIRC, the show kept getting canceled and brought back.

It was canceled once, after the first season. However, a fan campaign got it back on the air. The Sci-Fi channel took over production starting in Season 4, and produced 2 seasons (for a total of 5).

FOX screwed the show up by going for more action-oriented storylines in Season 3 (which is also why John Rhys-Davies was fired from the show, as they wanted to attract a younger audience). Sci-Fi went back to the original style, and the Kromaggs make a great enemy for OP teams (imho)

I didn't care for how the star always had to be the one to save the day, particularly when it made sense for another character to be given the spotlight and be the one to salvage the situation

That's why they were the "stars" of the show. It's typical of all shows of it's type. You don't see the cast of say, either Stargate show (or Quantum Leap, Star Trek, etc) let someone else salvage the situation. It's not the formula for shows like these.

Plus, I don't see how they always salvage the situation. For instance, the world where the asteroid was coming, by Arturo giving that world's version of America the bomb, he set up a possible worse scenario, as America could now lord over the rest of the world that they had such a weapon (as the person he worked on the bomb with from that world said at the end "Anyone who messes with us now...")

I don't think Sliders was a great show by any means, but that doesn't make it any less useful a resource for OP, which was the whole point of me posting about it (and not to debate the merits of the show, which honestly, is totally irrelevant)

I just wish Hollywood would really stop looting other stuff. They are the Roman Empire of Film!!- Canadian Pitbull, on Hollywood's obsession with remakes
