Hey all - I've been away from my duties for the last few weeks... some family stuff came up at the start of December and its pretty much eaten up all of my time.
I've been avoiding my Eden duties since the family stuff is very stressful and very important.
My parents have owned a diner/restaurant for 25 years now. In November my father was forced to close due to many reasons. This, like many family owned buisness that fall into hardship, effects the entire family involved.
I've been trying to help my parents not lose the house they live in due this financial blow to them. Granted this is not the only concern. My parents are from the "old country" from Southern Greece and all they know is how to work. My parents came to this country - worked for others until they decided they wanted to open their own buisness which they did. My brother and sister and I have been involved with the family buisness all our lives (this is probably why we enjoy working for ourselves)... so all our lives my parents have been their for me when I needed them, both personally and financially. Well now my parents needed me more than ever. Ive been doing everything in my power to help them not loose everything they have work so hard for all their lives.
Now they had to close their business and cant find work. No one wants to hire them as a cook or a waitress/hostess - they are just too old. Not to mention the fact the only thing on their resume is that they worked for themselves the last 25 years
My parents are taking it hard. Its hard enough to run a buisness in New York State (I should know.. Ive run 3 so far) and now with the closing of their buisness NYS really cares for buisness owners. My ass they do.
So basically its been up to myself and my brother and sister to help my parents not lose the house they live in. We are trying our best to do what we can - and still run our own lives and since I own my own buisness and make my own hours - (unlike my brother and sister who now have gone corporate
) - Ive been spending my majority of my day helping my father with this stuff. Which means my Eden duties have slipped. Im sorry I havent had a chance to process mailorders or figure out what is wrong with the ESP3 PDF or approve the art for Ghosts and ARGH. I need to take care of this stuff first with my parents.
Now - this really effected me physically with my health problems of late, the added stress pretty much pushed me over the edge and I need to take a few steps back and take a breather.
This week I managed to get some time to beat down my Eden duties... I started processing mailorders and returning emails. Im trying to get caughtup and back on track soon.
I just wanted to apologize for the silence and the delays. Like they say - when it rains it pours. But it looks like the major storm has passed, for now.
Eitherway - wanted to say Happy New Year to you all and thanks for all the support you have given Eden over the years. 2007 was rough. But Im hoping to return the favor in 2008
