Buffy Summers - In the Whedon'verse(TV series), She's been described as being the last Guardian of the Hellmouth, and possible one of the most powerful slayers in the history. The problem with the TV series (Whedon'verse) - at least IMPO - is it never full explored what it truely means to be a Slayer. The direction I'm planning for her is to explore what it truely means to be a Slayer, and why the slayer is a supernatural predator of demons & the undead. And what makes her possible the most powerful slayer in history. Willow Rosenberg - In the Whedon'verse(TV series) - she goes from shy computer nerd to Uber Witch (who almost destroyed the World) in 7 seasons, but in the process seem to leave her scientific knowledge behind as she began to embrace magic more. The direction I'm planning for her is more of a blend of Science & Magic - by having her kind of "evolve" into a Techno Witch - which is basically a witch that is pretty heavy into modern technology(computer age). Xander Harris - In the Whedon'verse (TV series) - basically remained a zeppo or a White Hat that stays in the background by sees everything. My planned direction for Xander - is a more useful and compatient White Hat or even low-powered Hero -possible as eventually an experience Demon Hunter - similar to a suburban version of Gunn. Dawn Summers - In the Whedon'verse (TV series) - she when from mystical kid sis(as the Key) to Buffy to possible watcher in training. My planned direction for her - she will have a supernatural destiny of her own(beyond being the Key), and in time she will most likely develop psychic abilites. Angel/Liam - In the Whedon'verse (TV series) - goes from being a vampire with a soul seeking redemption to being the champion of L.A. seeking Shanshu. My planned direction for him - is actually pretty similar but with some major differences. Such a instead of Shanshu - meaning for him to become human, In the Ultimate 'verse - it means for him to "live like a Human". But he will continue to be a champion.

Techno Witch - which is basically a witch that is pretty heavy into modern technology(computer age). There could have been techno-witches for a long time, each using what was modern to them, as a way to keep themselves grounded, and avoid too deep a flight into the weirdness. Maybe that's what Willow could learn, and apply it to her computer-geeking.

Most of the stuff from Season 8, is basically forbidden material for my Ultimate series. Specifically - the Dawn & Buffy storelines so far. As for Willow - you hit on the direction I plan to take her. That is Witches or Warlocks that become to ingrained in Magic - eventually go Dark. But the main ways to prevent this is to find an ancher that keeps the Witch grounded - such as learn about balance and harmony with nature, or understanding their times and the technology around them. Although not necessarily seer type abilities. Cordelia Chase - on the other hand will likely follow a very similar path to what she did for the 1st 3 seasons of Angel. So basically she becomes a seer, and recieves visions from the Powers That Be. Tara Maclay - she also on a similar path to Willow & that of her Whedon'verse counterpart (at least until late 6 season).

Faith Lehane - Unlike the Whedon'verse version - in the Ultimate'verse Faith grew up as the only child in a loving middle class catholic family from Boston. However she lost both of her parents before turning 15. And shortly afterwards - she become very self reliant, but also a bit of "wild child" - even though she had a guardian (who later became her watcher). Faith's wild child side displayed in being sexually promiscuous, and some minor drug useage. After becoming a a slayer - adrenaline become her primary drug of choice. Riley Finn - Like in the Whedon'verse version - He's a Iowa farmer boy, that joins the U.S. army's Iniatitive to hunt down demons. Unlike the Whedon'verse version - Riley and Iniatitive buddies are juiced up with animal DNA, instead of vitamins and steriods to turn them into supersoldiers.

Other than that - nothing else will be used from Season 8.

As is currently being shown in the Season 8 Comics. Personally - I thought that if the First plan to eliminate the slayer line had been more effective - the number of slayers actived by the spell should have been closer to 500 or less. Also given that Season 8 take place a couple of years after "Chosen" and Buffy's group was only able to find less than 1/3 the total number of slayers that they activated. So it leaves more than 1,200 slayers that can either go Rogue, or join other military or supernatural groups which could be potential enemies to Buffy's group of slayers. So ultimately the spell created much more problems than it solved. And because of the spell - the slayers are on the verge of being public enemy number 1, and hunted by the very world that Buffy's been trying to protect her whole time as a Slayer.

(6 Billion People over 57 million square miles) The numbers don't crunch right with anything less. A while back, someone calculated the Carrying Capacity for vampires (really supernatural predators who fed on humans) in a high-supernatural town such as Sunnydale. The number ended up being about 18 for the entirerty of Sunnydale (36,000 people). From this, it's rather easy to find an probable upper limit on Supernatural Predators. I got 3,000,000 Supernatural Predators as the worldwide upper limit. However, this is an upper limit and not every city is like Sunnydale (just several of them). However, given the sheer diveristy of such predators within the Buffyverse leaves me rather comfortable with that number for a global population number. Though keep in mind that it does not cover beings that do not feed on humans in some way. 1,800 vs. 3 million is bad odds. It's better than 3 million to 1, though. But that's just me being argumentative. Basically Buffy - with her friends, allies & 500 slayers vs the rest of the world. The reason 6 billion is that the Vampires, Military and Twilight plan to use public opinion and the actions of rogue slayers to convince humanity that all slayers are a threat. Even some of Buffy's former allies will join Twilight's team. The reason I figure about 1,000 for Buffy's team - is that during the rest of the season I figure that she's like to pick up a few more slayers, as well as some of her very loyal friends or allies such as Oz, Angel or Spike. Still that would equal about 6 million to 1. And you have to realize that when it was just Buffy as the only active slayer - she didn't have to face 3 milion other supernatural beings - but only those in Sunnydale. Even then there were some demons that avoided facing the slayer. So a possible 6 million to 1 odds is more extreme and a long short than any odds that she's ever faced. The way it seems is that Joss is planning for Season 8 finale to be all out Armageddon. Btw - 3,000,000 would be all supernatural beings - including werebeasts, totem warriors, slayers, witches/warlocks, vampires, and varies species of demons. And even that number seems a bit high for supernatural beings in my Ultimate 'verse. Also I'm not planning for a single gigantic supernatural battle - but rather a prolonged and intense supernatural war that rages on for at least 2 decades. And I plan to have more than just slayers fighting this war for the forces of good.

The number deals directly witht he carrying capacity for a predatory group that feeds exclusively on humanity. Last time I checked, Lorn doesn't eat people. I have a whole different set of numbers for "Supernatural-Related Beings Living Amongst Humanity" based on the various...alterations...that occured to the students of Sunnydale high to produce a different upper limit (as well as an estimation of the Sunnydale High population as a base, again, for the absolute upperlimit). The 3 Million marker is for creatures that do not actively hide amongst humanity. Nor doesit account for creautures that don't interact with humanity at all if they can help it, or beings that live exclusively in alternate dimensions. This doesn't mean that it's the true representation of what the supernatural population actually is. Especially if it's another GM's series. For my Ultimate 'verse series - the numbers of supernatural beings in Sunnydale is considered to near maximum capacity. However Sunnydale is an atypical town/city in terms of it's supernatural population since it is home to the Hellmouth - which attracts supernatural beings. It does make sense that large cities such as L.A., New York, San Francisco, & New Orleans would have a fairly large supernatural population because they have both a very large human population and a supernatural history. By the same token - a small city or town with a population of about 30,000-100,000 people without a Hellmouth would likely have a supernatural population of only 1/3 to 1/5 that of Sunnydale's. If even that high.

I prefaced the points as such already, that's why I called the numbers presented in the link the "Upper Limit". If there were a possible lower limit number I could deduce, I would do that as well. Lower limits are generally more useful as they present something closer to an absolute. The 18 individuals for Sunnydale marker is not as much a lower limit but a "Carrying Capacity" which literally means "How much is needed to keep a stable population" at least for a single species. It's as close to a lower limit as I can get. I know it's the GM's final call, but I want to have the information out there for consideration. For my Ultimate 'verse series - the numbers of supernatural beings in Sunnydale is considered to near maximum capacity. Agreed, I prefaced the statements that the numbers were drawn from an assumption that the Sunnydale figures held throughout. Hence, why it is the "Upper Limit". In other words, Less is Good. The only concern I have is that you may be going below the lower limit to support such a system. That's roughly 1 vampire for every 2,000 humans. To make those figures work you either need to assume that the town includes a vampire slayer in the mix or it has an annual growth rate of at least 10% - to keep the human population stable.

I'd toy with the growth and attrition numbers myself, but I often fail at math (despite how useful I find it) and the formula used for carrying capacity is a bit beyond my ken. Posts: 4118 (12/23/08 18:54:56) Zombielord Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Well for my Ultimate series - Sunnydale is a city of about 100,000-120,000 people and is located in the heart of Silcon Valley(basically the location of real Sunnyvale, CA). So since Sunnydale is located in the heart of Silcon Valley which has a population of over 1,000,000 people - in addition to being on the Hellmouth. This explains why the normal local vampire population may be a typically high. I have the normal carrying population of vampires of about 24-30, for Sunnydale alone. With another 200-260 or so vampires that may pass thru Sunnydale or live near Sunnydale in any given year. And given a Slayer of Buffy's capabilities - she could take out about 180 vampires or more in a single year.

Posts: 4161 (01/20/09 23:58:55) Zombielord Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I've already figured that Buffy's return at the beginning of season 6 - will be very different than it was in the TV Series. There won't be this big brooding - "I think I was in Heaven ... now I'm in Hell" with her character. While the place that Buffy spent in between Seasons 5 & 6, may be considered to be a Slayer "Paradise" - it's hardly considered heaven. So Buffy will return more sure of herself & understand her destiny, and what it truely means to be a Vampire Slayer. The problem is the sexual relationship between Buffy & Spike, in the TV version of Season 6. I've been wondering how to incorperate it into the series - with an Ultimate'verse twist. And after reading Seran's Vegas Knights - I think I may have an idea - a Slayer Doppleganger. In this case - I'm thinking the doppleganger is an exact inverse copy of Buffy, that would have her darkest emotions, and traits without any of her conscience or moralities to inhabit her. Hopefully you can do more (you and Seran) than a simple "Mirror Universe" version of Buffy, not that there is anything wrong with that it's just given the stuff i have read so far I am sure you could both do more (and Seran, that should give you an idea on how far behind I am on reading your thread). I like the idea and wanted to explore it via my "Never Was" monster write-up. Castingwise, this anti-Buffy should also be played by SMG, even if she ends up looking different. But the look, personality and style of dress will be very different. Although the Doppleganger may start out as a mirror opposite of Buffy. I also plan for her to evolve some. While she may - replace Caleb as a Vessel for the First. I'm also seriously considering the Idea that the Doppleganger may eventually become a powerful vampire (likely teamed with Angelus). Some major differences between Buffy and the Doppleganger. Buffy has a strong sense of Honor, duty, family & friendship Dark Buffy(Doppleganger) - doesn't have any of either. Buffy prefers sex only within a loving relationship. Dark Buffy - prefers sex based on lust, not love. The doppleganger, may be formed from dark primal emotions that surface within Buffy while she's in the Slayer Realm. But Buffy is able to mostly control these emotions while in the Slayer Realm. Only after she returns to Sunnydale, do these emotions manifest into a doppleganger. Although at present - I still haven't figured out how I'm going to make it manifest (i.e. thru demonic spirit, magical spell, or something else.) Last Edited By: krj1168 01/21/09 21:33:55.
