So, I haven’t been on the boards in a while posting new things because there has been some major culling and reformation of our current Group. Some players left and then we have several new players that joined us (ok, mainly the group is made up of my family; my daughter, two sons, my son’s best friend, the Wife and an friend or two). After taking a long hiatus I’ve decided that I wanted to run a game that we could develop in many ways like my Vegas Knights and Destiny’s Calling series, ect, ect.
I must warn you that the Cast are made up of Weird West and Victorian Steampunk characters, with a cinematic twist (I’m sure you’ll enjoy the series, well, that’s my hope, anyways). So, Without Further ado, here's the brief run down and the Cast of the Series.
Concept: Extraordinary Adventures is a steampunk Western/Victorian cinematic series, where its heroes are a group of Adventurers traveling the world finding ancient treasures, creatures of fantastic stories, battling the forces of darkness.
Each Cast Member was created using the Champion Character Type with a few bonuses here and there for flavor. As the series progresses, you will see the introduction of "Special Abilities" in their Characters. The series starts with each Cast Members’ origin to establish a theme. To my surprise, the group has agreed that this has the possibility to be an awesome series.
Setting: Welcome to the wild, wooly, and wizardly world of the Extraordinary Adventures. It is a world of six-guns, sorcery, steam, and supernatural horror set against the backdrop of the American West and Victorian Aged UK of the late 19th century. For the most part, life in this world is indistinguishable from what one might find in the history books, except here local shopkeepers might spend their evenings worshiping dark and ancient gods, explorers might find themselves face to face with evil artifacts of steam or side-stepping into the ghostly planes, canyons may shudder with the cries of dragons or other gargantuan winged creatures, deal with powerful mad scientists whose Clockwork might be possessed by demonic souls, and powerful relics as old as the mountains themselves may cross your paths with life-changing results.
Created it with several inspirations in mind (as well as inclusion), such as Devon Monk's The Age of Steam novels and Abney Park and their steampunk music, Deadlands (RPG), The Sixth Gun (Comic and RPG; actually used in my world), The Rippers RPG (actually being introduced into the game and into my world), TV Series: Westworld (but actual west), Brisco County Jr, The Magnificent Seven (1990s), Strange Empire (watched on netflix) and many more! Movies: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, The Outlaw Josey Wales (dang all of Clint Eastwood’s western movies), The newer movies like Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (which is a part of my world as well), 3:10 to Yuma (remake), the Quick and the Dead, The new and old Magnificent Seven, the Duel, etc etc, to many to add. Also shows in the supernatural vein such as Grimm, Charmed, Buffy and Angel, and last but not least Supernatural.
Cast: The Cast or characters have their own story and backgrounds. Each will be lead down a path where they find things aren’t always on the up and up.
Menka Abah -The Avatar of Vishnu: She is a part of an secret Order of Thieves who steal things of supernatural power to keep out of the hands of those who would be corrupted by it.
She starts the series with a mission to recover blue-prints of a war machine created by Monsieur LeFerve a wealthy warmonger who works for the mysterious Lord Silvermane. She get close by becoming engaged to Sir Francious Renard, a wealthy socialite, who has dealings with the two men mentioned above.
She successfully gets the plans and hands them over to her Order, but goes back to be with Francious, only to find him dead, killed at the hands of LeFerve, to exact her revenge she has joined forces with Sir Ahric Stone, a Dashing Adventurer in search of LeFerve. She travels for the next three years with the adventurer finding random clues from time to time of LeFerve’s whearabouts.
Asa Tremaine -The Sharpshooter: He is an American sharpshooter running away from a checkered past. At some point in his life he served as a cavalry soldier fighting in the American Civil War, and was involved in a brutal massacre where the troops eradicated an entire native village. Asa later fled America after he had killed a senator's son, and joined a circus where he used his skills as a gunslinger to entertain small crowds.
He starts the series with the circus he joined in London, but his life takes a turn when two well-known Bounty Hunters come a calling. Using his quick wit and clockwork sidekick Jazibell (who houses a mysterious crystal) he manages to kill one of them sealing his doom as a wanted man. He is saved and taken in by the young and ambitious adventurer Sir Ahric Stone, where the two become good friends. For the next three years he would travel with Stone on many of his colorful exploration adventures.
Sir Ahric Stone -The Dashing Adventurer: He is a British explorer of the African continent who is on a deep personal quest. Sir Ahric has nonetheless paid a heavy price for his exciting career. Although his stately home is filled with souvenirs from his travels, it is devoid of family and loved ones. Over the years of exploration he has had many loves, one of the most intense was that to Miranda Livingstone. Upon their wedding day, Ahric was called away to support colonial efforts to spread civilization in the Dark Continent of Africa and as a result they parted ways barely speaking to one another.
Years and many explorations later, Ahric starts the series after he found some down time and decided to take sometime to himself and spend the day at the circus. Little did he know that he would cross paths with a wanted man, but he aids the man in his get away by offering him a position at his side and a new identity as well.
The two become close friends and Asa, the man would come to be called, would aid him in his adventures for the next three years.
Helena Ambrose -The Airship Privateer: She is a British woman who was welcomed to the ranks of the noble and patriotic Privateer, also known as the legal Pirate by her father, Captain Michael Ambrose. There she worked for her nation’s well being during times of war by raiding, pillaging and plundering any enemy trade ships she can find whilst taking a small profit for herself and her crewmen. Whilst her pirate contemporaries may be hung and reviled by her countrymen she is welcomed to set sail without worry of the ships under her King’s flag, fearing only the harsh air seas, the not-yet-hung pirates, sirens and maybe a leviathan or two, not to mention battle ships of other nations.
After a failed mission against the mysterious Horde, she was on her way to being prosecuted when a dashing adventurer appeared and offered reprevement in trade to be his personal airship provider into uncharted territories. She starts the series off with her dropping Sir Ahric Stone and friends at Cherry Oak, a small mining town. She spends much of her time at the Airship docks working on the airship Veronica (named after her mother). She continues to work for Stone for the next three years.
Erich “The Scorpion” McCoy -The Cursed Outlaw: He is an American outlaw who at a young age witnessed his parents’ death at the hands of an outlaw known as The Clockmaker. His need for vengeance was cut short when he went to live with his Uncle and his family. At age 16 he was recruited into the Union Army where he fought until the Confederate defeat.
After the war he would uncover the plot that killed his parents and exacted revenge forever donning him an Outlaw. After running from the law, he decided to head back to his Uncle’s homestead to live out his life away from his criminal activities, but he witnessed a second tragedy. He would catch some thugs who worked for a wealthy rail baron setting the home ablaze. He killed the thugs and was only able to save his two cousins. As the fire died down he stumbled across his Father’s revolver with a distinct iron cast scorpion on it, that his Uncle was planning on giving him after his time in the war.
He and his cousins would travel across the frontier until they arrived at Little Elm, where his cousins would stay. Luke would become Sheriff and Lucy would run the newspaper. Erich parted ways with his cousins. Shortly after he would meet Lucas Holt (a wandering gunslinger), Blackstar (a half- white and half-Native American bounty hunter), Jin (a wandering swordsman) and the four would become good friends. One night while they were taking a Bounty in, their campsite was attacked by a werewolf (later he discovers the werewolf’s name, an American Outlaw named Jedikiah Redd) where tragedy would strike a third time, leaving Erich cursed, but he hides the truth and keeps his secret locked away from everyone he can. As a result of his curse he departs from Blackstar, Jin, and Holt to try and find a cure, where he eventually is enlisted by a Sir Ahric Stone to aid him on his quests.
He starts the series off with Stone and his crew in Cherry Oak investigating rumors of the Horde attack.
Lucas Holt -The Gunfighter: He is an American gunslinger, who is a former outlaw granted amnesty for bringing the remaining members of his old gang to justice. Rumor has it that he is a member of a secret order of gunslingers, but these rumors have never been confirmed. After he agreed to the amnesty, he set off to track down Archer Cage, who ran his own gang now.
Holt confronts Cage at his stronghold, Fort Myers, only to be shot and left for dead. Another bounty hunter by the name of Blackstar, finds him critically wounded and takes him to a local rancher named Elena Hastings. Several days later, Holt thanks Elena for her hospitality and he leaves with Blackstar. They eventually meet Erich McCoy and the wandering Jin and the four become good friends and associates. Lucas’s life would forever change afterwards.
One day after a long day of riding the posse ends up in New Mexico just north of El Paso, they spy a horseless covered wagon encircled by several unmoving humanoid figures and several dead Indians (Skinwalkers) and the dead body of infamous bounty hunter Jake Brand (Knight of Solomon). They stop to investigate and are attacked by Skinwalkers and humanlike golem husks. When the fight ends, Lucas investigates the wagon to discover Randolph “Robin Hood” Tibbots, who had a $3000 dollar dead or alive bounty on him. Tibbot’s death allowed Lucas to pick up a fancy gun with a pearl grip on it forever (until he dies) binding him to it.
Lucas later finds out that the gun was one of Six cursed relics that allowed him to summon the spirits of those he killed with the revolver. Now his prized possession, Lucas occasionally taps the power and calls for his Husk army to aid in gunfights.
He starts the series arriving in Cherry Oak as his old friend Erich has teamed up with a daring adventurer and other unique individuals fighting the good fight.
